Art, Wine, and Crime

Culture and elegance await them in France.
So does murder.

A terrifying plunge toward earth in their private jet introduces Philip and Genevieve to France. Is this the first sign that trouble has followed them across the Channel?

Now comfortably settled into their new titles and extraordinary fortune, Lord and Lady Crosswick are ready to enjoy the pleasures of their new life: a grand home in Paris, a world-class art museum, and a vineyard in Bordeaux.

But their joie de vivre quickly turns dangereuse.

An attempted art heist raises unsettling questions. Their intimidating house manager appears to have secrets. Evidence of wine fraud comes to light. And when an apparent heart attack begins to look like murder, Philip and Genevieve once again find themselves searching for the truth.

Rich with French culture, dry humor, nail-biting suspense, and unexpected twists, Art, Wine, and Crime takes Lord and Lady Crosswick from the galleries of Paris to the vineyards of Bordeaux in a mystery where luxury conceals danger, and nothing is quite what it seems.

A Tasting of Reviews

Lord and Lady Crosswick are heading to France to get a look at their inherited vineyard when their plane nearly goes down due to sabotage. And that turns out to be the least of their worries when things heat up once they make it to their new home. It’s incredibly easy to get lost in the Crosswick world where a Stuart Wood’s Stone Barrington intertwines with Downton Abbey. Highly enjoyable.

In Art, Wine and Crime … [Lord & Lady Crosswick] visit their French holdings for the first time. You want to hate them, with their Beaux Arts Paris mansion, their good-looks and fashion sense, their museum full of priceless art, their perfectly blissful marriage, and their old-growth Bordeaux vineyard; but they are basically grandparents somewhat amazed by their newfound wealth – and all the trouble that follows the money … The intrigue progresses at a quick pace against a backdrop of wine tastings and art appreciation that shows off the author’s credentials as a connoisseur and leaves readers longing for a personal staff which includes a French pastry chef. The lord and lady deserve to rest on their laurels, surrounded by grandchildren playing in the vineyard, but the author probably has more adventures in store for them.

…From beginning to end, there are twists and turns leading to an ending that I, who am usually good at solving the mystery, never saw coming.
This is the second installment in the “Lord and Lady Crosswick Mysteries.” Although technically a sequel, this book is strong enough to stand on its own. Boerger does an amazing job of answering any of the questions that may arise from not having read the first book.
Beautifully written and full of suspense. I hope there will be more to come from Lord and Lady Crosswick.

I am a big fan of Tana's first book and was waiting impatiently for the second. It did not disappoint! What I most appreciate in her 2 books is that -- apart from the education I got on wine -- Tana has a wonderful talent for development of the characters. She makes you want to come back for more to see how these people change and grow. I had the pleasure of meeting Tana at a book signing and her enthusiasm for writing was evident. I eagerly await her third book to see what happens to the main characters.

Suspenseful, funny and lots of twists. Couldn’t put it down until I finished it. Never knew what was going to happen next. Can’t wait for the next book.
